nukirk. (stylized with all small letters and a period at the end) is the pen/stage name of V.Matthew King-Yarde, a 1st generation Xennial West Indian-American. A creative spirit whose main objective is to become a personality that embodies his love for sharing his own viewpoint through creative avenues such as music, video, and entertainment. He’s a freelancing consultant, meaning that he doesn’t work for any particular client, thus giving him a unique opportunity to stay true to self.
nukirk. created thought.remixer originally to replace his Boondocks fansite/Life-Remixed forum back in 2008. He managed to create a space thanks to joining Twitter during its first wave in 2008. When Twitter hit the mainstream and it was no longer “the wave”, he started blogging as “WhatWhitesWillNeverKnow” which he launched on May 6, 2012, on a whim. It is currently one of the top influencer Tumblrs with his brand of unapologetic social commentary.
WhatWhitesWillNeverKnow won three consecutive Black Weblog Awards from 2013-2015 (Best Micro-blog in 2013 and Best Tumblr in 2014+2015). nukirk. then used his popularity and Tumblr to kickstart a hashtag movement that he dubbed “Say it loud! I’m Black and I’m Proud 2.0” called #BlackoutDay on March 6, 2015, a quarterly celebration of “Black Excellence”. On April 2017, #TheBlackout (the organization he co-founded with Marissa Rei) won a Shorty for Best Tumblr Blog.
However, all of the attention didn’t come without issues, as WhatWhitesWillNeverKnow attracted job offers and promotions that wanted him to be the “angry, opinionated Black man” in which isn’t his style every single day. So, he sunsetted the name on March 23, 2017, and changed the blog to “thought.remixer.xtra” and is currently active to this very day.
